The capital of Dakahlia province. Established in 1219 AD by AlMalek Al Adel Ayoub during his combat against the Crusades. It was called "Mansoura" or "The city of Victory". Mansoura is 24,830 Km2. It is 60Km from the Mediterranean and 100Km from Cairo; the capital of EGYPT.

Weather in Mansoura is moderate in winter and warm in summer with short season of mild rains. It is situated on the Domiat branch of the Nile River and is interconnected to all surrounding cities by railway network and bus lines. Mansoura University was founded in 1962.

The medical school was the first among its faculties. The first class was graduated in 1968. Among many medical facilities belonging to the faculty of medicine, Urology & Nephrology Center was the first institution of its kind.
